The Distinguished PE Teacher of the Year award recognizes PE teachers (K-12, open worldwide) who deliver rigorous, standards-based instruction, grounded in the philosophy of Distinguished Physical Education. 
 

The rubric is fully transparent and public and you can use it as you prepare your submission.

 

To apply: submit a video of yourself teaching a full lesson (no longer than 45 minutes), along with a short written reflection.

The winner receives

• $500

• Distinguished PE merch (shirt, plaque, stickers, etc.)

• Free access to all Distinguished PE resources (virtual course, curriculum, etc.)

• An invitation to be a guest on the podcast

Timeline: Applications close on January 17th, 2027. The winner will be announced in March 2027.

The winner agrees to allow their video to be used in future Distinguished Physical Education professional development and courses that will be free resources for other teachers to learn from.

While highly unlikely to occur, we reserve the right not to award a winner if no submission meets the bar for "distinguished."
